11th
The drive was just lovely, my favourite countryside... Sugar cane. We saw a lot of the cane trains, and farmers cutting and ploughing. A number of mills with the high smoke stacks and some distilleries. We finished a very good talking book 'Elianne' by Judy Nunn. It was based in the Bundaberg area & a sugar farm. Mention was made of the family I stayed with 53 years ago. Just their name, to do with cane loading machinery. The book took 14 discs & we really enjoyed it all.
Arrived about 3pm at Southside Holiday Village on the Bruce highway.
12th
Very nice park, but right on the Highway! Yes, trucks, trucks, trucks 24 hours per day, then in day light hours Caravans , oh, and a train at 5am who kindly blew his whistle for Brian (I didn't hear this.)
Brian had his special breakfast because had had a BIG DAY yesterday, yes bacon & eggs, then took off for his walk..... Freedom.... Shops!,,, for me, hadn't seen any for a week. Stocklands here I come. Mind you it was on the opposite side of Rockhampton and it was as big as Chadstone I think, at leaset it felt like it. At 1.30pm I got a text message ' are you lost?' Pleased to say I wasn't and would be back with his lunch by 2.
Two of my tops have 'died' on this trip, that means two empty coat hangers. Can't have that , had to fill them today, ladies understand that!
Out to dinner tonight, I need a rest.
Our home on the road.
