16 & 17th July Cairns 'Cocoanut Big4 Caravan Resort'

Only 80k today ....... But it took 2 hours. A very winding decent from down off the Atherton Tablelands. It was a breathtaking trip of beauty through the rainforest.we were able to get straight onto our sight at 11.30 and it is a picture.
Palm trees and manicured lawns, colourful shrubs and everything perfect. It should be because it's 5 stars.
I was just happy to stay here and get set up, Brian went Ford hunting to book the car in for an oil change, we have clocked up 5,000k so far. Monday week at 8am is the first he could get!
We were invited to a BYO Happy Hour next door, 4 couples and it was most interesting. I had to leave early because I had a roast of pork on, it was done & potatoes were beautifying brown. Best roast of pork ever in the class oven.

17th
On the road at 9.30 and headed for Cape Tribulation 167k of a mixture of the great ocean road Australia, and the Black Forest in Germany, hills and tight bends.
The Cape was a perfect picture and we had our picnic lunch there.

Now back the same route, called in at a Heritage Centre but time wouldn't allow us the 2 hours needed to do it justice and get our money worth, so we went on the The Daintree River for a river cruise. Now that was so worth the money and the 1 hour cruise ended up being 1 & a half hours. We saw tiny Honey Kingfisher birds, a beautiful blue. And Crocodiles basking in the sun. 8 feet long.

The boat trip on the huge river was so good.

We had to cross this river by car ferry and had an hours wait on the way up but none on the vay back. $25 return.

We saw Tea being grown, the first we had ever seen as well as endless sugar cane.

What a wonderful day it has been, didn't get home till dark, 7pm. A big day for this old chook and Brian's arms must stroll be turning from such a winding drive. He is relaxing now watching FOOTBALL!
